Men's Rugby places 3rd in Winterfest 7's

By Dennis Virtuoso

Niagara entered two sides into the Winterfest 7's tournament. The first side consisted of many of our A-side veterans, the second side was our developmental side. The A-sides first game started off a little late due to weather conditions. The A-side won their first game vs a Canadian men’s club called the Niagara Wasps at a score of 2 trys to 1. Zanaid Marra and Julian sharp scored in this game.

The second side lost their first game against SUNY Pottsdam at a score of 5 trys to 1. Danny Wea had NU’s only score. The second team had to fold after this match due to injury and weather. The first team lost their second match to a men’s club from Virginia. The score was one try to zero.

The A-sides third watch vs Pottsdam ended with a win for NU. The score was four trys to two. Evan Castellani and Mahmoud Zeidan each had two trys.

After waiting for their fourth match the A-side was informed that the team they would be playing forfeited. This was probably because they heard that they were playing NU. This forfeit resulted in NU taking third place.
