Niagara Stays Perfect at 7-0

The Niagara Eagles faced off on Thursday night against cross town rivals UB Lady Ice Bulls.  The Eagles opened the scoring just under 4 minutes into the game with a power play goal from Senior forward LeAnna Kozlowski.  The first period was hard fought between both teams and with 8:39 left to play in the period UB tied the score.  The second period showed more of the same intensity from both sides, but on a great individual effort, Niagara’s Natasha Fryer netted the second goal of the game.  By the third period, both sides were showing signs of fatigue and on a rare defensive zone mistake by the Eagles, UB capitalized and tied the game.  With  10 minutes to play in the game, Niagara forward Lauren Fontaine entered the zone on the left hand side and cut across the ice sliding the puck past a sprawling goalie for the game winning goal and her impressive 19th on the season, including 3 game winners.  Niagara’s next game is November 17th against the Buffalo Hornets.
