Niagara University's Women's Club Hockey Game showed up at Ohio State University (OSU) this past weekend unsure of what to expect. The girls would have two back-to-back games against OSU’s ACHA division 1 club team, and were ready to show what they had. On Saturday, December 1st, the Niagara Eagleskated to a 9-4 victory. Natasha Fryer came out strong, scoring the first goal for the Eagles assisted by Bethany Bouthillier. Lauren Fontaine did not hold back, as she scored four goals throughout the game, assisted by Paige Sasser and Jessica Schug, who also scored within the first period. LeAnna Kozlowski helped with two assists, while her line mate Emma Hassen scored the game winning goal. Danene Stevens was on top of almost everything, saving a total of 26 shots that night.
The following morning, Niagara had their work cut out for them. Ohio went up 2-0 after the first period. Niagara started off the second with a 5 minute power play, but was unable to score on Ohio’s penalty kill. Niagara scored twice in the second with goals from defenseman CJ Angeles and Natasha Fryer. With the score tied after 2 periods, Niagara came out strong in the 3rd netting 2 more goals to go ahead 4-2. Ohio quickly answered with 2 power play goals evening the score at 4. After a 5 minute overtime the game ended a 4-4 tie. Great defense was played by freshman Bethany Bouthillier, along with senior goalie Danene Stevens.
